Mentoring

Mentoring Check-ins.

We are pleased to announce the setting up of a new mentoring network. While we are now seeing some easing of lockdown restrictions, it is inevitable that working life will be mainly from home for the next few months and we will all continue to adjust our working lives.

With that in mind, we want to make sure that the Women Lawyers Division Bristol can provide peer support and mentoring relationships locally.

We are looking for both mentors and mentees that would be interested in taking part in the first stage of the scheme. For the first stage of this Mentoring Scheme, we ask that you commit to a minimum of three video calls of 30 minutes over the next 6-8 weeks. If this sounds like something that would be of interest or you are interested in mentoring generally, please sign up for the scheme below and join us for our Launch Event on the 9 July.

At the moment we’re going to focus on female-to-female mentoring from the networks but if take-up is good, we anticipate working with other organisations to widen the opportunity to all genders and developing a more formal longer-term mentoring scheme.

Sign up to the Scheme

How it works:

  1. Fill in the form to tell us about yourself and whether you would like to be a mentor or mentee (or both).
  2. We will review the forms and make matches based on what you tell us. We will do our best to meet your requirements but as we are doing this quickly and informally we ask that you are open to new ideas of mentors/mentees.
  3. We will ask that mentees help organise the calls and that they come to meetings with something that they would like to discuss. This can be general or specific but it is helpful to give the meeting a focus.
  4. We ask that you commit to a minimum of three video calls of 30 minutes over the next 6-8 weeks. Of course, if you want to do more or work in a different way, that’s up to you.
